The Family Tree
There are many ways to look at a tree. We can start at the base of the trunk and work our way upward finding how high and wide we can go; this is what we will do with the family pedigree charts, starting with the eight primary branches and chase them skyward as far as we can. But you can also choose a branch at the top and follow it downward to where it joins the roots; this is the approach we'll take with the descendancy charts, starting with the major family heads as high up the tree as we can find them and trace them all the down to the trunk where they join the Armentrouts of today. The third way to explore our tree is what we have already accomplished with the palette; we took a cross section of our family tree, about a third of the way down from the top, and examined it to discover how many of our ancestors left Europe to embrace a new, albeit challenging, life in the New World of the Americas. In the future we return to this old tree and explore it in new ways, but for now enjoy your exploration of the family tree.
